About the Role
Energy Smart Nigeria Ltd. operates FleetOS, a fleet management and fuel monitoring platform that uses IoT tracking devices installed in client vehicles. We are looking for a skilled and reliable IoT Device Installer to join our field operations team, responsible for the physical installation, configuration verification, and post-installation support of GPS/OBD tracking devices across our client fleet.
This role is primarily based in Lagos but will require periodic travel to other cities as our client base expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Install VL502 (OBD plug-in) and VL863 (hardwired) GPS/IoT tracking devices in client vehicles following the standard installation procedure
- Connect and configure MTN SIM cards within each device and confirm network connectivity before leaving the client's premises
- Verify successful device registration on the FleetOS platform after every installation — no job is complete until data is confirmed live
- Troubleshoot common installation issues on-site and escalate unresolved issues to the technical team
- Maintain accurate installation records for each vehicle, including device serial numbers, SIM numbers, vehicle plate numbers, and installation date
- Brief the client's representative on basic device operation after installation
- Travel to client sites within Lagos and other Nigerian cities as required
- Return faulty or defective devices to the operations team with a clear fault description
Requirements (Essential)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience as an auto electrician or vehicle electronics technician
- Solid understanding of vehicle OBD-II ports and 12V vehicle electrical systems
- Ability to follow a standard installation procedure precisely and consistently
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet to verify device status on a web-based platform
- Strong attention to detail — installations must be clean, secure, and verified before sign-off
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in client-facing situations
- Valid driver's license and comfortable navigating Lagos independently
Requirements (Preferred)
- Prior experience installing GPS trackers or fleet management devices
- Familiarity with MTN SIM provisioning or M2M/IoT SIM activation
- Experience working with corporate clients or fleet operations environments
